Measure Diameter

After the initial turning of the shank, a prelilinary measurement is made. I want the final dimension to be .248" (slightly under 1/4" for threading). I take this preliminary measurement and subract from it .248 and then divide by two to compute the lathe cross slide movement at the desired workpiece diameter. Sounds complicated but it really isn't.
