Final Drive Gear and Shaft

Previous | Home | Next
This is the same type of contraption I put together to install the final drive bearing, but in this case I'm installing the final gear/shaft.  Again, it is simply some Schedule 40 PVC pipe fittings that I had on hand, long bolt, washers, and nut.  When installing the bearing, all pressing should be done on the outer race.  But for the gear/shaft, the assembly only puts pressure on the shaft and inner race, squeezing them together and into place.  There is no lateral pressure on the bearings or outer race for this operation.
